“Think Different, Stay Focused, Make Things Simple”
HI, I AM CINDY!
A Product Designer with 5+ years experience
Specializing in Interaction Design / Design Research / User Testing / Prototyping
I was born and raised in Taiwan, spent some time in China and South Korea, educated and worked in the USA, and NOW back in Asia!
I see myself as a data-driven and detail-oriented design practitioner who is passionate to develop forward thinking programs for users, create engaging experiences for customers and accelerate workflow for organizations. I am passionate about delivering cohesive and delightful digital experience and products.
Keeping life simple and uncluttered by adhering to the bare essentials.
In 2017, I spent a month living on a small island called ”Lambai Island” surrounded by coral reefs bursting with marine life. I realized making a conscious choice to what I absolutely need, helped saving the planet and the creatures I saw everyday, and myself live a life that sparks joy.
Now, I am encouraged by a book “手ぶらで生きる“, to put Minimalism into every aspect: life, possessions, health, thinking and interpersonal relationship. It also reflects on my design, offering the simplest, most effective tools and pleasing services for users.
Spending free time at galleries, coffeeshops and ocean.
I love being inspired by art and creativities, getting pumped by design meetups with a good coffee(usually coffee tonic), and surrounded by cool water to meditate and refresh.
MY TYPICAL DAY AS A DESIGNER
A positive change I’ve adopted lately is starting my day by doing something for me first, like a morning refreshing yoga or a biking route to the office.
I use the first bit of the day to scan my emails and respond to anything that needs an immediate response. All other emails can wait until later in the day. And I stay productive by blocking out my calendar. I ensure at least a 4-hour block of uninterrupted design time every day. During the time I try to tackle my “Big Thing” before emails or meetings. I might be doing one of the following: sketches, prototypes, usability testing, iterations, high-fidelity designs or quality checks with the develop teams.
Once a week my team and I have a design group gathering. All the designers from the different teams get together to share new ideas, chat about work issues and to solv design problems that we may have. The group gathering are a good place to catch up and discuss all things.
After work, I make sure to spend some time reading articles, new tech information or taking courses on online platforms like Udemy. Recently I am taking the web developer bootcamp. It's the way to keep myself updated to latest trends and learn new knowledge and skills. I use Notion to clip and organize all the things I find and also for my task management.
